Crankshaft main bearing cap bolt, inner (M10)
Torque-to-yield. This fastener is tightened past its elastic limit and permanently stretches. Always install a new one — a reused TTY bolt will not clamp to spec.
Tightening procedure
- Torque 15 lb-ft · 20 N·m
- Angle 80°
Complete the passes in the order shown. Angle passes are turn-of-the-nut steps measured with an angle gauge after the preceding torque pass.
Tools
- 13mm socket
- angle gauge
Notes
Inner (vertical) main cap bolts. Tighten in sequence. Socket: 13mm (inner main cap bolts) per LS engine build references (gearpiston LS-Tech build guide); provisional - GM SI does not publish socket sizes. Thread-repair mapping: GM thread-repair Engine Block (Top/Bottom Views) hole 4 (per doc 2055312 figure Object ID 1402164), identified by position (the inner pair sits at the main-bearing centerline, labeled 4, the deepest M10 x 2.0 hole at 44 mm tap) and corroborated by the bolt length vs. the hole's tap depth; provisional.
